CROSS STITCH WOMAN AND TEEN CAP

CROSS STITCH WOMAN AND TEEN'S CAP
SIZE: Woman
and Teen’s 19-21 inches, depth about 8.5 inches
MATERIALS:
Worsted
weight yarn, approximately 2 ounces main color
I
(5.5 mm) crochet hook
Tapestry
needle
NOTES:
1. Read instructions all the way through before
beginning.
2. Should fit most women and teens. For larger heads work rounds 7-9 an
additional time to increase the depth.
3. Beginning chain 2 does not count as a dc.
4. When joining with a slip stitch, pull the
slip stitch tight.
5. On
the very last round don’t join with a slip stitch but use your tapestry needle
for the invisible fasten off.
6. Cap in
photo was crocheted with Red Heart Super Saver Lavender.

INSTRUCTIONS:
ROUND
1: Ch 3, working over tail, 12 dc in first ch.
Join with a slip stitch in first dc.
(12 sts)
ROUND 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in ea st. Join with a slip stitch in first dc. (24 sts)
ROUND 3: Ch 2, dc in same st as join, 2 dc in next st. *Dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch in first dc. (36 sts)
ROUND 4: Ch 2, dc in same st as join, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. *Dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch in first dc. (48 sts)
ROUND 5: Ch 1, sc in ea st. Join with a slip stitch in first sc. (48 sts)
ROUND 3: Ch 2, dc in same st as join, 2 dc in next st. *Dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch in first dc. (36 sts)
ROUND 4: Ch 2, dc in same st as join, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. *Dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch in first dc. (48 sts)
ROUND 5: Ch 1, sc in ea st. Join with a slip stitch in first sc. (48 sts)
ROUND 6: Ch 1, *sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch in first sc. (60 sts)
ROUND 7: Ch 3, from behind dc in st to right of ch 3. *Skip one stitch (be sure you don’t count the st with the ch 3 as your skipped st), dc in next stitch, from behind dc in skipped stitch. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch in top of ch 3. (60 sts)
ROUND 7: Ch 3, from behind dc in st to right of ch 3. *Skip one stitch (be sure you don’t count the st with the ch 3 as your skipped st), dc in next stitch, from behind dc in skipped stitch. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch in top of ch 3. (60 sts)
ROUNDS 8-9: Ch 1, sc in ea st. Join with a slip stitch in first sc. (60 sts)
ROUND 10-18: Repeat rounds 7-9 three times. (60 sts)
ROUNDS 19-20: Ch 1, sc in ea st. Join with a slip stitch in first sc. (60 sts)
Fasten off.
With the beginning tail and using your tapestry needle run tail through the beginning double crochets and pull tightly to close any hole in the top of the cap.
Weave in ends.
