Now
you need to decide if you are going to make the bassinet all one color or with
contrasting yarn on the last round.
If
you are working all in one color DO NOT fasten off. Go to One Color Round 17.
For
a contrast round, fasten off and use one of the Optional Contrast Rounds.
One Color Round 17: Ch
3 (counts as a dc), 4 dc in same st (beginning shell). *5 Dc (shell) in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in top of ch 3. Pull the slip stitch tight. (40 shells) Fasten off.
Option 1 Contrast Round 17: Join contrasting yarn
with a slipstitch in same st as join. Ch
3 (counts as a dc), 4 dc in same st (beginning shell). *5 Dc (shell) in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in top of ch 3. (40 shells)
Fasten off.
Option 2 Contrast Round 17: (this option doesn’t use
as much yarn as option1) Join contrasting
yarn with a slipstitch in same st as join.
Ch 3 (counts as a dc), 5 dc in same st (beginning shell). *slip stitch (don’t pull tight) in next
sc. 6 dc (shell) in next sc. Repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in top of ch 3. (20 shells)
Fasten off.
If making all
one color the top edging round isn’t really needed.
Contrasting Top Edging: Attach
contrasting yarn in any slipstitch of round 12.
Rev sc in each slipstitch of round 12 (you will actually be working under
the slipstitches into round 11). Do not
join, fasten off and use the yarn needle to join and weave in end.
Drawstrings (make 2): With either color, make a
ch 36" long (approximately 125 ch).
Fasten off.
Starting
at one end of bassinet, weave drawstring in and out of the ch 2 loops of round
16. Tie ends of chain together.
Starting
at the opposite end weave second drawstring in and out of the ch 2 loops of
round 12 and tie ends of chain together at opposite end of bassinet.
Optional Tassel: I like to cut 8 pieces of yarn about 6 inches
long and using my yarn tapestry needle pull through 2 pieces at end of each tie
and tie an overhand knot.
