PICOT KNOT SLEEP SACK

PICOT KNOT SLEEP SACK


27 inch circumference, 20 inch length

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn about 6 ounces
US size 10.5 16 inch circular knitting needle
US size 10.5 double point knitting needles
Tapestry needle

GAUGE:
15 sts = 4 inches
11 rows = 2 inches

NOTES:


1. Read instructions all the way through before beginning.
2. Sleep sack in photo was knit using Caron One Pound.


INSTRUCTIONS:

Cast on 100 sts using
picot cast on.

Round 1: Knit around.

Round 2-5: K1, P1. Repeat around.

Knit until sleep sack measures 18 inches.

Place marker and decrease as follows:

Round 6: *K 8, k2tog. Repeat from * around. (90 sts)
Round 7: K around.
Round 8: *K 7, k2tog. Repeat from * around. (80 sts)
Round 9: K around.

Round 10: K 6, k2tog. Repeat from * around. (70 sts)
Round 11: K around.

Round 12: K 5, k2tog. Repeat from * around. (60 sts)
Round 13: K around.

Round 14: K 4, k2tog. Repeat from * around. (50 sts)
Round 15: K around.

Switch to double point needles.

Round 16: K 3, k2tog. Repeat from * around. (40 sts)
Round 17: K 2, k2tog. Repeat from * around. (30 sts)
Round 18: K 1, k2tog. Repeat from * around. (20 sts)
Round 19: K2tog. Repeat from * around. (10 sts)
Round 20: K2tog. Repeat from * around. (5 sts)

Knit 5 or 6 inch I Cord with the remaining 5 stitches.

Cut yarn leaving a 6 inch tail.

Use tapestry needle to run yarn tail through the stitches and pull to close. Now run yarn down the center of the I Cord.

Weave in ends. Tie I Cord in a knot.
