SUZIE’S FRUIT CAP - JUNE HOTM (C)






SIZES: Small 16-18, Medium 18-20, Large 20-22 inches

GAUGE:
6 dc and 3 dc rounds = 2 inches
Leaf = 3 inches,

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn

Approximately 1.5 to 2.5 ounces your choice of fruit colored yarn
Small amount of green for leaf and brown for stem
Crochet hooks in US G (4.5 mm) and US I (5.5 mm)
Yarn needle

NOTES:
1. Read instructions all the way through before beginning.
2. Beginning chains don’t count as a stitch.
3. Pull your slipstitches tight, they should almost disappear.
4. First st of each round goes in the same st as join of previous round.
5. To change color in a slipstitch, insert hook in stitch and yarn over with new color and pull it through the stitch and the loop on the hook.


Leaf and stem are worked the same for all sizes.


LEAF:
With G hook and green yarn, ch 12, dc in 4th from hook, dc in next 4 chs, hdc in next 2 chs, sc in next ch, slipstitch in last ch, ch 1. Working in unused loops of beginning ch and working over beginning tail, slipstitch in same st, sc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next 5 sts, ch 2 and slipstitch in base changing to brown if you are using brown for the stem.

STEM:
Ch 6, slipstitch in the base again.


Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each st of chain.


Rounds 2-3: Sc in each st, working in spiral without joins. You will be working from the inside of a tube. Slipstitch in next st and fasten off.

Switch to I hook and fruit colored yarn.

SMALL INSTRUCTIONS

ROUND 1: With the stem pointing toward you, attach fruit colored yarn with a slipstitch in beginning chain 6 of stem. Ch 2, 2 dc in each st of ch. When you get to the base of the leaf be sure to work behind the leaf. Join with a slipstitch in top of first dc. (12 dc)


ROUND 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in ea st. Join with a slipstitch in top of first dc. (24 dc)


ROUND 3: Ch 2, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in top of first dc. (36 dc)


ROUND 4: Ch 2, *dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in top of first dc. (48 dc)


ROUND 5-9: Ch 2, dc in each st. Join with a slipstitch in top of first dc. (48 dc)


ROUND 10-12: Ch 1, sc in ea st. Join with a slipstitch in top of first sc. (48 sc)


Fasten off. Weave in ends.


MEDIUM INSTRUCTIONS

SUZIE’S LOTSA BEADS BEANIE - Child's (C)

Sizes: Child's 20 and 18 inch


Gauge: 6 sc = 2 inches

Notes:
1. Read instructions, for the size you will be crocheting, all the way through before beginning.
2. Beginning ch 2 does not count as a stitch through out pattern.
3. The first stitch goes in the same place as join.
4. When joining rounds with a slipstitch pull the stitch tight. You want it to nearly disappear.
5. There are instructions for two ways of adding beads to your work. See the adult’s 22 inch and the child’s 18 inch size to decide which method you like best.



Instructions for: Child’s 20 inch

Materials:
About 2 oz of worsted weight yarn
54 9x6mm pony beads
I/5.50 mm crochet hook

Gauge: 6 sc = 2 inches

Before beginning thread 54 beads on yarn

Round 1: Ch 4 and join with a slip stitch in first ch to form ring. Ch 2, (do not count as first dc from now on), 12 dc in ring. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (12 sts)

Round 2:
Ch 2, 2 dc in each st. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (24 sts)

Round 3:
Ch 2, (dc in next st, 2 dc in next st), repeat around. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (36 sts)

Round 4:
Ch 2, (dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st), repeat around. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (48 sts)

Round 5: Ch 2, (dc in next 7 st, 2 dc in next st), repeat around. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (54 sts)

Round 6-8: Ch 2, dc in each st around. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (54 sts)

Depth at this point should be about 5 inches, if not work another dc round.

Round 9: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join with a slipstitch in first sc. (54 sts)

Round 10 First bead round: (use this method or method explained in child’s 18 inch beanie) Ch 2, hdc in same stitch as join, move up one bead to the hook, ch 1, skip next sc, *hdc in next sc, move up one bead to hook, ch 1, skip next sc* repeat around to last bead of round. On last bead of round omit the chain 1, skip ch 2 and join with a slipstitch in first hdc. (27 beads)

Round 11: Ch 1, sc in same stitch as join, sc in ch 1 over each bead and in each hdc around. Skip ch 1 and join with a slipstitch in first sc. (54 sts)

Round 12 Second bead round: Ch 2, hdc in same stitch as join, move up one bead to the hook, ch 1, skip next sc, *hdc in next sc, move up one bead to hook, ch 1, skip next sc* repeat around to last bead of round. On last bead of round omit the chain 1, skip ch 2 and join with a slipstitch in first hdc. (27 beads)

Round 13: Ch 1, sc in same stitch as join, sc in ch 1 over each bead and in each hdc around. Skip ch 1 and join with a slipstitch in first sc. (54 sts)

Round 14-15: Ch 1, sc in each st. Join with a slipstitch in first sc. (54 sts)

Round 16: Ch 1, reverse sc in each sc (be sure to skip the stitch made by the slip stitch. Do not join, you will have a nearly invisible join if you fasten off and weave in end.


Instructions for: Child’s 18 inch

Materials:
Less than 2 oz of worsted weight yarn
48 9x6mm pony beads
I/5.50 mm crochet hook

Gauge: 6 sc = 2 inches

Round 10: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join with a slipstitch in first sc. (48 sts)

Round 11 Second bead round: Ch 2, hdc in same stitch as join. (Hdc bead st in next st, hdc in next st), repeat around. Hdc bead stitch in last st. Join with a slipstitch in first hdc. (24 beads)

Rounds 12-13: Ch 1, sc in each st. Join with a slipstitch in first sc. (48 sts)
