CELEBRATION BUNTING

Above bunting is done with the Applied I-Cord band.

Above bunting is done with the Pick-up and Knit band.

Thank you Virginia for testing this pattern.

A fun decoration for holidays.  Imagine in pastels for Easter or a baby shower.  In school colors for graduation or homecoming.  The options are as endless as your imagination.

SIZE:  Approximately 5 inches across by 6 inches long.

MATERIALS:
Small amount of Red Heart Super Saver in your choice of colors.
US size 10.5 (6.5 mm) knitting needles
US size 10/5 circular needle long enough to hold the picked up stitches of the pennants.  I used a 29 inch for 7 pennants with the Pick-up and Knit band.  With the Applied I-Cord band I used my 16 inch circular.
Tapestry needle

NOTES:
  1. Read instructions all the way through before beginning.
  2. Each pennant uses about 1/4 ounce.
  3. I made 7 and 13 pennants, but you can make it as short or long as you like.
  4. The bunting in the photo is Cherry, Blue and Soft White Red Heart    Super Saver.
  5. When choosing which band to use consider:  The Applied I-Cord is completely reversible.  The Pick-Up and Knit band the back side shows a line of the contrasting color.

Row 35:  SSK, K2tog.  (2 sts)

Row 36:  K2tog.  (1 st)

Fasten off.  Wait to weave in the ends until after you add the band, that way you can use the tails to tighten up any gaps.

BAND:
There are two ways of knitting the band.

The one I like best is the Applied I-Cord border.

The second method is a Pick-Up and Knit garter stitch border.

With the circular needle cast on 16 sts.

Pick up and knit across the top of each pennant.  Keep your beginning tails to the right hand side when you are doing the pick up and knit.

Cast on 16 sts.

Knit 3 rows and bind off.

Fasten off.

Weave in ends.
