SIZES:
Woman’s average
Woman’s small (instructions follow large)

MATERIALS:
Approximately 3 ounces Baby or Sports Weight yarn (3)
Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
Size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
Size J (6.0 mm) crochet hook

GAUGE: First 3 rounds = 4 inches (before 4th round)

NOTES:
1. Read instructions all the way through before beginning.
2. Pull the joining slipstitches tight.
3. Beret in photos was crocheted by Jo NY using Beret Baby Jacquards in Orange Blossom.

INSTRUCTIONS AVERAGE:

With I (5.5 mm) hook
Ch 4 and slipstitch in first ch to form a ring

Round 1: Ch 3 (count as first dc), 11 dc in ring. Join with slipstitch in top of ch 3. Pull the slipstitch tight. (12 dc)

Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st as join. 2 dc in each st around. Join with slipstitch in top of ch 3. (24 dc)

Round 3: Ch 3, dc in same st as join, dc in next st. *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join with slipstitch in top of ch 3. (36 dc)

Round 4: Ch 3, dc in same st as join, dc in next 2 sts. *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 2 sts*, repeat from * around. Join with slipstitch in top of ch 3. (48 dc)

Round 5: Ch 3, dc in same st as join, dc in next 3 sts. *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 3 sts*, repeat from * around. Join with slipstitch in top of ch 3. (60 dc)

Round 6: Ch 3, dc in same st as join, dc in next 4 sts. *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 4 sts*, repeat from * around. Join with slipstitch in top of ch 3. (72 dc)

Round 7: Ch 3, dc in same st as join, dc in next 5 sts. *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 5 sts*, repeat from * around. Join with slipstitch in top of ch 3. (84 dc)

Round 8: Ch 3, dc in same st as join, dc in next 6 sts. *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 6 sts*, repeat from * around. Join with slipstitch in top of ch 3. (96 dc)

Round 9: Ch 3, dc in same st as join, dc in next 7 sts. *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 7 sts*, repeat from * around. Join with slipstitch in top of ch 3. (108 dc)

Round 10: Ch 3, dc in same st as join, dc in next 8 sts. *2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next 8 sts*, repeat from * around. Join with slipstitch in top of ch 3. (120 dc)

Beret should measure approximately 13 inches.

Rounds 11-12: Ch 3, 1 dc in each stitch around. Join with slipstitch in top of ch 3. (120
dc)

Round 13: Ch 3, 1 dc in next 7 spaces, *dc decrease in next 2 sts, 1 dc in next 8 sts*, repeat from * around. Join with slipstitch in top of ch 3. (108 dc)

Round 14: Ch 3, 1 dc in next 6 sts, *dc decrease in next 2 sts, 1 dc in next 7 sts*. Repeat from * around. Join with slipstitch in top of ch 3. (96 dc)

Round 15: Ch 3, 1 dc in next 5 sts, *dc dec in next 2 sts, 1 dc in next 6 sts. Repeat from * around. Join with slipstitch in top of ch 3. (84 dc)

Round 16: Ch 3, 1 dc in next 4 sts, *dc dec in next 2 sts, 1 dc in next 5 sts. Repeat from * around. Join with slipstitch in top of ch 3. (72 dc)

Round 17: Ch 3, *1 dc in next 3 sts, dc dec in next 2 sts, 1 dc in next 4 sts. Repeat from * around. (60 dc)

Rounds 18-19: Ch 1, sc in each stitch around. (60 sc).

Switch to H (5.0 mm) hook.

Rounds 20-22: Ch 1, sc in each stitch around. (60 sc).

Fasten off and weave in end.



FLOWER:

With J (6.0 mm) hook. Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with a slipstitch in first sc. (6 sc)

Ch 4, 5 tr in same st as join. 6 tr in each st around. Join with a slipstitch in top of ch 4. (36 tr)

Fasten off and use tails to sew flower to cuff of beret.

INSTRUCTIONS SMALL:
With I (5.5 mm) hook
Ch 4 and slipstitch in first ch to form a ring

Switch to H (5.0 mm) hook.

Rounds 19-21: Ch 1, sc in each stitch around. (54 sc).

Fasten off and weave in end.

FLOWER:
With J (6.0 mm) hook. Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with a slipstitch in first sc. (6 sc)
