A TISKET A TASKET (C)

This is Jo NY version, I love her use of color.
Thanks for sharing Jo.

A Tisket A Tasket

A Tisket a tasket,
A green and yellow basket.
I wrote a letter to my love,
But on the way I dropped it.
I dropped it, I dropped it,
And, on the way I dropped it.
A little boy picked it up,
And put it in his pocket.

3/4/09 Edited to correct typo in round 2 of small basket side.
MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn approximately 5 oz for large
Small amount of worsted weight for trim.
9 inch plastic canvas round (or suitable subsitute) for base of large basket

CD for base of small basket
Optional handle: 13.5 inches long, 3 sq wide 7 mesh plastic canvas
H (5.0mm) crochet hook

GAUGE: 4 dc = 1 inch

SIZES:
Large: 10 inches in diameter and 4.5 inches tall

Small: 5.5 inches in diameter and 4.5 inches tall

NOTES:

1. Read all instructions through before beginning.
2. I got my plastic canvas round at Michaels.
3. Always pull your slipstitches tight.
4. Beginning chains DO NOT count as a stitch throughout.
5. Don’t look to close, I didn’t start with a full skein of yellow and ran out of yarn on side round 9 on the large basket, so went straight to round 10.
6. I used contrasting yarn for side round 10 and the trim around the bottom.

OPTIONAL HANDLE:

Cut 3 pieces of yarn each about 3 feet long. (I used 2 green and one yellow.) Using a running stitch leave a tail at least 8 inches long at each end of the plastic canvas strip. Use the ends to sew handle to inside of basket. Tie three ends together after sewing. I put a drop of Tacky glue on the knot, and after it dried cut the ends short.
