PLAYING CARD CASE
























MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn approximately 1 oz
I crochet hook
Yarn needle
5/8 inch button, Velcro or a snap for closure

INSTRUCTIONS:
Ch 10

ROUND 1: Make 2 sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc in each chain (7) to last chain, working over yarn tail for remainder of this round, 3 sc in last ch, work in opposite side of starting chain and sc in each of 8 chain stitches. DO NOT join rounds. [20 sc]

ROUND 2: 2 sc in first sc of round 1, sc in next 9 sts, 2 sc in center st of 3 sc group, sc in 9 sts. [22 sc]

ROUNDS 3-14: Sc in each sc around. [22 sc]

ROUND 15: Insert deck of playing cards into bag. The 14th round should come very near the top of the cards. Mark the st at the right back corner of deck. Remove cards and sc around until 1 st before marked st. Slip stitch in that st and marked st. Ch 1, turn.


SNAP OR VELCRO FLAP: Worked over 9 sts

Row 1: Sc in 2 slip stitches, sc in 7 sc. Ch 1, turn. (9 sc)

Rows 2-8:
Sc in 9 sc. Ch 1, turn. (9 sc)

Row 9:
Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 5 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (7 sc)

Row 10:
Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 3 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (5 sc)

Row 11: Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 1 st, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (3 sc)

Row 12: Dec 2 sc in next 3 sc as follows: Draw up a loop in each of next 3 sts, yo, draw through all 4 loops on hook. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Sew snap or Velcro on flap and case for closure.

BUTTON FLAP: Worked over 9 sts

Row 1: Sc in 2 slip stitches, 7 sc. Ch 1, turn. (9 sc)

Rows 2-8:
Sc in 9 sc. Ch 1, turn. (9 sc)

Row 9:
Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 2 sts, ch 1 (counts as a sc), skip 1 sc, sc in 2 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (7 sc)

Row 10:
Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 1 st, sc over ch 1, sc in 1 st, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (5 sc)

Row 11:
Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 1 st, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (3 sc)

Row 12:
Dec 2 sc over next 3 sc as follows: Draw up a loop in each of next 3 sts, yo, draw through all 4 loops on hook. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Sew button under buttonhole.
