MOCK CABLE SLEEP SACK AND HAT SET

This pattern is from guest designer; Virginia in Wenatchee WA

Virginia knits, crochets, tats and about any other fancy work you can name.   She makes most of her things for various charities that are close to her heart. 


Materials:
This takes about 7 ounces of worsted weight yarn, I used Mainstay that I had in my stash.
Size 10 ½    24 inch circular needles
Size 10 ½ Double pointed needles
Yarn needle for hiding ends
Stitch marker


Pattern:
Round 1:  *sl 1,K2, psso, P2, K8, P2, repeat from * around to marker.
Round 2:  *K1, YO, K1, P2, K8, P2, repeat from * around to marker.
Rounds 3 & 4:  *K3, P2, K8, P2, repeat from * around to marker.


Cast on 105 stitches, Join being careful to not twist sts.  Place marker
Work 5 rounds of K3, P2, ribbing.


Now start Pattern and repeat these 4 rounds of pattern until piece measures  
About 19 inches, ending with round 1.


Decrease rounds as follows:  Switch to DP needles when needed.
Round 1: *K2, P2, K8, P2, repeat from * around to marker.  (95sts)


Round 2: *K2tog, P2 tog, K2 tog( 4 times), P2 tog, repeat from around to marker.  (49sts)


Round 3: *K1, P1, K4, P1, repeat from * around to marker .  (49sts)


Round 4: K2tog around ending with K1.  (25sts)


Round 5: K around.  (25sts)


Round 6: K2 tog around, ending with K3 tog.  (12sts)


Cut yarn leaving a tail long enough to thread through needle and run though the remaining sts on the knitting needle, pull up tight and finish off.


Hide ends of yarn and you are done.


This pattern can be made using more or less rounds of ribbing as you like.


Mock cable hat:


Using size 10 ½ double pointed needles
Cast on 48 stitches, join, careful to not twist stitches, place marker


Work 5 rounds of K2, P2 ribbing


Pattern:
Round1: *sl 1, K2, psso, P2, K5, P2, repeat from * around to marker.
Round 2: * K1, YO, K1, P2, K5, P2, repeat from*  around to marker.
Rounds 3 & 4: * K3, P2, K5, P2.


Repeat these 4 rounds of pattern until total length is 5-5 ½ inches, ending with round 1.


Decrease rounds:
Round 1:  *K2, P2, K5, P2 repeat from * around to marker.  (44sts)


Round 2:  *K2 tog, P2 tog, K2 tog, K1, K2 tog, P2 tog, repeat from* around to marker.  (24sts)


Round 3:  *K1, P1, K3,P1, repeat from* around to marker.  (24sts)


Round 4:  K2 tog around to marker.  (12sts)


Round 5:  K around to marker. (12sts)


Round 6: K2 tog around to marker.  (6sts)


Cut yarn leaving a long enough tail to thread needle and pull through stitches remaining on knitting needle.  Pull up tight , finish off and hide ends.
