SUZIE'S JACOB'S LADDER CAP (C)

Many thanks to my testers, couldn't do it without you.

SIZE:
Women’s average, covers ears, if you want a shorter cap work fewer repeats at rounds 5-12.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn about 2.5 ounces total
I (5.5 mm) crochet hook

OPTIONAL:
K (6.5 mm)
6 one-inch safety pins

GAUGE: 6 dc = 2 inches: 2 rows = 1 inch

NOTES:
1. Read instructions all the way through before beginning.
2. Beginning ch 3 counts as a dc.
3. Pull your slipstitches tight, they should almost disappear.
4. If you are going to use more than one color yarn for your cap, change colors in the joining slipstitch.
5. To change color in a slipstitch, insert hook in stitch and yarn over with new color and pull it through the stitch and the loop on the hook.
6. After a couple rounds your cap is going to starting looking like a mutated doily.
7. After chaining up the loops the very top of your cap will probably look slightly wonky. Don’t worry about it, it will look spiffy on the wearer’s head.

Chain 5 and join to form a ring.

ROUND 1: Ch 3, dc in ring, ch 3. *2 dc in ring, ch 3. Repeat from * 4 times. Join with a slipstitch in 3rd ch of first ch 3. (12 dc and 6 loops)

ROUND 5-12: Ch 3, skip the join, dc in 7 st, ch 6. *dc in next 8 dc, ch 6. Repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in top of ch 3. (48 dc)

CHAIN LOOPS: Start at top loop of cap and with K hook or fingers pull 2nd loop under and over the 1st loop, pull 3rd loop under and over 2nd loop. Continue pulling the remaining loops under and over the previous loop. Pin the final loop until you are ready you crochet into it on round 13.

ROUND 13: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, 7 sc in next 7 dc. *Sc in final loop of chained up loops, sc in 8 dc. Repeat from * around. Sc in final loop of chained up loops. Join with a slipstitch in first sc. (54 sc)

WAVY SLEEP SACK AND CAP (C)

This sleep sack is a little larger than the Shell Sleep Sack, not as girlie either. Wouldn’t it be fun to embellish this one like the Seaside Wavy Bag?

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn aproximately 7.5 ounces
I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
Yarn needle for weaving ends

GAUGE: 6 sts = 2 inches

NOTES:
1. Read through all instructions before beginning.
2. Instructions are written for using two colors of yarn, the Sleep Sack in the photo was made using only one color, Red Heart Ocean.
3. When I use more than one color I cut the yarn for the color changes. It could be carried up without cutting, but I cut the yarn and wove in the ends.
4. When joining a new color, complete the joining slip stitch with the new color.
5. When joining with a slip stitch, pull the stitch tight until it almost disappears.

CHARITY LAPGHAN WITH ATTACHED POCKET (C)

This lapghan is made like the Rectangle Granny Afghan. Since many of the people that receive donated lapghans are in wheelchairs, there are ties on the two top corners, so it can be tied to the wheelchair.

The attached pocket is large enough to accommodate a cell phone, I-Pod, tissue packet or a deck of cards.

The single crochet edging won’t get tangled in the wheelchair. If you are making it for someone for whom that isn’t an issue I suggest the edging on the original Rectangle Granny.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn approximately 21 ounces
I (5.50 mm) hook
1 3/4 to 1.5 inch button
Needle with large eye that will go through holes in button
Yarn needle

2. Crochet the pocket first, when it is time to attach it you won’t have to stop.
