WHO LOVES YA BABY CAP


SIZE: 
14 -16 (16-18, 18-22) inches

MATERIALS:         
Worsted weight yarn approximately 1.5 to 2 ounces
US size 9 (5.5 mm) 16 inch circular knitting needle
US size 9 (5.5 mm) double point needles
Marker
Cable needle or one of the above double point needles
Tapestry needle for yarn
Size 10 yellow crochet thread about 9 (10.5, 12) yards
US size 7 (1.5 mm) crochet hook
12 (14, 16) size 3 mm black pom-poms
Tapestry needle for size 10 thread
Black thread and needle
Aleene’s Ok to Wash It fabric glue (optional)

GAUGE:
Approximately 17 sts = 4 inches

NOTES:
  1. Read instructions all the way through before beginning cap.
  2. Caps in photo were knit with Red Heart Super Saver (4) Warm Brown.


SPECIAL STITCHES:

C4B: Slip next 2 sts purl wise to cable needle (or double point needle) and hold to back of work, K2, K2 from cable needle.

C4F:  Slip next 2 sts purl wise to cable needle (or double point needle) and hold to front of work, K2, K2 from cable needle.

C2B: Slip next st purl wise to cable needle (or double point needle) and hold to back of work, K1, K1 from cable needle.

C2F:  Slip next st purl wise to cable needle (or double point needle) and hold to front of work, K1, K1 from cable needle.

INSTRUCTIONS:
With 16 inch needle, cast on 54 (62, 72) sts. Join and work in the round.

Place marker to denote beginning of round.

CUFF:
Rounds 1-6:  *K1, P1.  Repeat from * across.  (54, 62, 72 sts)

BODY:
Round 7 (small and large sizes only):  *K9, M1.  Repeat from * around.  Remember that last M1.  (S - 60, L - 80 sts)

Round 7 (medium size only):  *(K8, M1) 3 times, K7, M1.    Repeat from * twice.  Remember that last M1.  (M - 70 sts)

Round 8: Purl around. (60, 70, 80 sts)

EYES:  (make 12, 14, 16)
With size 10 yellow crochet thread and US size 7 (1.5 mm) crochet hook
ch 3,  9 hdc in 3rd chain from hook

Fasten off leaving about a 6 inch tail for sewing eye to cap.

Sew eyes in place.

Sew pom-pom to center of each eye, or glue with Aleene’s Okay To Wash It

CARROT SLICES



This is hardly what I would call a pattern, but by request:

MATERIALS:
Small amount of worsted weight yarn
Size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
Tapestry needle

NOTES:
Carrots in the photo were crocheted with Red Heart Super Saver in Pumpkin.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Small: 
Ch 2, (work over tail) 7 sc in second ch from hook.

Fasten off.  Pull beginning tail tight to close hole in middle. 

Weave in ends.

Large: 
Ch 2, (work over tail) 9 hdc in second ch from hook.

Fasten off.  Pull beginning tail tight to close hole in middle. 

Weave in ends.



SUNNY SIDE UP A FRIED EGG



MATERIALS:
Small amounts worsted weight yarn in yellow and white
Size G  (4.5 mm) crochet hook
Small amount fiberfill or alternative stuffing
Tapestry needle

NOTES:
1.    Read pattern through before beginning.
2.    Yarn used is Red Heart Super Saver.
3.    Beginning chains don’t count as the first st.
4.    Pull all slip stitches tight until they neaqrly disappear.
5.    Remember this is just a toy, so if your stitch count is slightly off don’t sweat the small stuff.


YOLK BOTTOM:
Round 1:  With yellow, ch 3, 9 hdc in third ch from hook.  Join with a slip stich in top of 1st hdc. (9 hdc).

Round 2:  Ch 1, 2 hdc in each st.  Join with a slip stich in top of 1st hdc. (18 hdc)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

YOLK TOP:
Round 1:  With yellow, ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook.  Join with a slip stitch in top of 1st sc. (6 sc).

Round 2:  Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as  join.  2 sc in each sc around.  Join with a slip stitch in top of 1st sc.  (12 sc).

Round 3:  Ch 1, sc in same st as join.  *2 sc in next st, sc in next st.  Repeat from * around.  Join with a slip stitch in top of 1st sc.  (18 sc).

Round 4:  Ch 1, sc in each st around.  Join with a slip stich in top of 1st sc. (18 sts)

WHITE:
Round 1:  With wrong sides of yolk pieces together, working through both pieces attach white with a dc, dc in same st.  2 dc, in each st around.  When there are only about 4 sts remaining to join, put in a small amount of fiberfil.  Join with slip stitch in top of 1st dc.  (36 dc)

Bottom of egg should be flat and the top slightly domed.

Round 2:  This round should have some randomness to it.  This is the way I worked one of them.  Ch 1 , sc in same st as join.  *hdc, 2 hdc, dc, dc, 2 hdc, sc, sc, hdc, dc, dc, 2 hdc, sc,  hdc, hdc, 2 dc, dc, dc, 2 dc, dc, 2 hdc,  dc, dc. 2 dc, dc, dc, 2 dc, hdc, hdc, 2 hdc, 5 sc.  Join with slip stitch in 1st st. 

Fasten off. 

Weave in ends.

PRETTY IN PINK CAP

With 16 inch needle, cast on 48 sts. Join and work in the round.

Place marker to designate beginning of round.

Round 1:  *K2, P2.   Repeat from * to marker.  (48 sts)

Repeat round 1 until cap measures 3 inches from cast on edge.

Rounds 2-3: *K6, P2.  Repeat from * around to marker.  (48 sts)

Rounds 4-5: K.  (48 sts)

Rounds 6-7: K2, *P2, K6.  Repeat from * to last 6 sts, P2, K4. (48 sts)

Rounds 8-9: K.  (48 sts)


Repeat rounds 2-9 twice, cap should measure about 7 inches from cast on edge.

Begin decreases:  Switch to double points when necessary.

Dec Round 1:  *K2, K2tog, K2, P2.  Repeat from * around.  (42 sts)

Dec Round 2:  *K5, P2.  Repeat from * around.  (42 sts)

This is where I switch to double points.

GAUGE:
Approximately 16 sts = 4 inches

  2. Sleep sack was knit using Caron Wintuk.
  3. If you are using one of the lighter weight worsted like Pound of Love or Simply Soft use size 9 (5.5 mm) needles.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cast on 82 sts using a stretchy cast on. 

Row 1:  *K2, P2.  Repeat from * across.  Ending with K2. (82 sts)

Row 2:  *P2, K2.  Repeat from * across. Ending with P2. (82 sts)

Repeat rows 1and 2 for 5 inches, ending with row 2.

Remainder of sleep sack is worked in rounds.

Round 1:  Without turning, K2tog, K to last 2 sts, K2tog.  (80 sts)

Place marker.

If your join looks a little loose don’t worry about it, we will solve that with a little piece of ribbon.

Rounds 2-3: *K6, P2.  Repeat from * around to marker.  (80 sts)

Rounds 4-5: K.  (80 sts)

Rounds 6-7: K2, *P2, K6.  Repeat from * to last 6 sts, P2, K4. (80 sts)

Rounds 8-9: K.  (80 sts)


Repeat rounds 2-9 until sleep sack measures about 17 or 19 inches from cast on edge, depending upon if you want a closed bottom or a open bottom with drawstring.

Next round:  Knit.

Next 6 rounds:  *K2, P2.  Repeat from * around.
Bind off knitwise.

DRAWSTRING:
Leaving a 5 inch tail, using an I hook chain 90.  Slipstitch in the back bump of the 2nd chain from hook and each remaining chain.  Fasten off leaving a 5 inch tail. 

Cut two 10 inch lengths of yarn, fold in half, pull loop through the end of the drawstring with the tails.  Pull all the ends through the loop and pull tight forming a tassel.

Cut three 10 inch lengths of yarn, fold in half, pull loops through the opposite end of the drawstring and pull tight.

Weave drawstring in and out of the eyelets.  Pull to close and tie bow.

FINISHING:
Weave in any remaining ends.

Pull the ribbon through the ribbing at the join and tie a bow.  I like to use a needle and thread to sew a couple stitches through the bow so it doesn’t come untied.

US size 10 (6 mm) 16 inch circular knitting needle

  2. Use size 9 (5.5) needles for the light weight worsted yarn, like Pound of Love, Simply Soft and Caron Jumbo Prints.

INSTRUCTIONS:
With 16 inch needle, cast on 48, (52, 60, 64) sts. Join and work in the round.

Place marker to designate beginning of round.

Round 1:  *K2, P2.   Repeat from * to marker.  (48, 52, 60, 64 sts)

Repeat round 1 until cap measures 3, (3.5, 4, 4.5) inches from cast on edge.

Next round:
(Baby’s only):  K to marker.  (48 sts)
(Child’s only):  K11, M1, K28, M1, K to marker.  (54 sts)
(Tween’s only):  K to marker.  (60 sts)
(Adult’s only):  K15, M1, K31, M1, K to marker.  (66 sts)

Knit every round until cap measures 7 (7.5, 8, 8.5) inches from cast on edge.

Begin decreases:  Switch to double points when necessary.

Dec Round 1 (Adult’s size only):  *K 9, K2tog.  Repeat from * around.  (60 sts)

Dec Round 2 (Adult’s size only):  K.  (60 sts)

Rounds 4-5: *K2, P2.  Repeat from * around.

US I (5.5 mm) crochet hook

Approximately 16 sts = 4 inches

NOTES:
  1. Read instructions through before beginning.
  2. Sleep sack in photo was knit using Red Heart Super Saver Prefect Pink.
  3. If you are using one of the finer worsted weight yarns like Pound of Love or Simply Soft use size 9 needles. 
INSTRUCTIONS:
