CURLICUE BOOKMARK
I'm still working on bookmarks for the school near my house. I want to have a slew of them made when school starts after Labor Day.
It wasn't until I was getting ready to shoot photos that I noticed how much like flowers these curlicues look.
SIZE:
Made with Red
Heart Super Saver total length is about 13 inches, 11 inches between curlicues
MATERIALS:
Worsted weight
yarn less than .5 ounce
US size G (4.5
mm) crochet hook
Tapestry needle
ABBREVIATIONS:
Ch = chain
Sc = single crochet
Dc = double crochet
NOTES:
- Read instructions through before beginning.
- If your stitch counts are a little off don’t
fret, it isn’t brain surgery.
- All dc and sc are made in the top loops of the
chains.
- This length of bookmark should fit most books. To fit paperback books chain 37 for the
cord and second curlicue.
Large Curlicue:
Ch 10. Working in the top loops of chains: 6 dc in 3rd ch from hook, 6 dc in each remaining ch. Slip stitch in the ch where you made the last dc. (48 dc)
Cord:
Ch 47.
Small Curlicue:
Working in the top loops of chains: 6 sc in the 2nd chain from the hook, 6 sc in each of the next 5 chs. Slip stitch in the ch where you made the last sc. (36 sc)
There
should be 40 chain stitches in between the curlicues. Remember close is good enough, don’t sweat
the small stuff.
Fasten off. Weave the tails through the curlicues.

I love the curlicues, too. Most of the folks I make things for at the end of the year have already seen and rec'd everything I make, so it's nice to have something new. Bookmarks, I've found, are welcome by men, women and kids alike.
By the way, has anyone had trouble posting lately? The past week, I can't seem to click the orange pencil and then post inside the white edit box. It will let me type a title but the cursor will not "take" in the body of the posting screen. Normally, I edit in Word and then copy and paste, but it also will not allow me to paste. I wonder if I clicked something like the Compose button when I shouldn't have or what. I've refreshed and even re-booted because I have an old system and very little RAM.
Just wondering...
