BIBBITY BOBBITY BOW SCARFLET
This quick to make little scarflet matches the Bibbity Bobbity Blue Cap.
MATERIALS:
Worsted weight (4) yarn
approximately 1.5 ounces
Crochet hooks in sizes H
(5.0 mm), I (5.5 mm), J ( 6.0 mm)
Tapestry needle
GAUGE: 12 hdc = 4 inches
NOTES:
1. Read pattern through before beginning.
2. Turning chains do not count as a stitch
throughout pattern.
3. Changing hook size as instructed is important
to get the best results. However it
could be made with just the I (5.5 mm) if you don’t have the other sizes.
4. Scarflet in photo was made using Red Heart
Super Saver Sage.
INSTRUCTIONS:
With J hook, ch 50.
Switch to I hook.
Row 1 wrong side: Hdc in the bump on back of 3rd ch from hook and in bump of each ch across. (48 sts)
Scarflet should measure
about 16 inches at this stage. If you
want it shorter or longer adjust number of starting chains.
Row 2-8: Ch 2, turn, hdc in back loop of each hdc across. (48 sts)
First end:
Ch 1 and turn corner to work across one narrow edge.

Row 1: Work 10 sc evenly across end. This will draw the end in slightly. (10 sts)
Row 2: Ch
1, turn, sc in each sc across. (10 sts)
Switch to H hook.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, *sc dec. Repeat from * across. (5 sts)
Row 4: Ch
1, turn, sc in each sc across. (5 sts)
Slot tabs:
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in the front loop of each sc. (5 sts)
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in the front loop of each sc. (5 sts)
Rows 6-9:
Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across. (5 sts)
Fasten off.
Join yarn with a sc in first
free loop of row 5, sc in remaining 4 free loops. (5 sts)
Repeat Rows 6-9. Do not fasten off.
Row 10: Ch 1, turn, join tabs by sc through both layers of tabs. (5 sts)
Row 11: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in each st across. (10 sts)
Switch back to I hook.
Row 12: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across to last st, 2 sc in last st. (11 sts)
Rows 13-20:
Ch 1, turn, *sc in next st, tr in next st.
Repeat from * across. Sc in last
st. (11 st)
Fasten off.
Second end:
Be sure to start on the right side.
Row 1: With I hook join yarn with a sc and work 10 sc evenly across end. This will draw the end in slightly. (10 sts)
Row 2: Ch
1, turn, sc in each sc across. (10 sts)
Switch to H hook.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, *sc dec. Repeat from * across. (5 sts)
Row 4: Ch
1, turn, sc in each sc across. (5 sts)
Slot tabs:
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in the front loop of each sc. (5 sts)
Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in the front loop of each sc. (5 sts)
Rows 6-9:
Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across. (5 sts)
Fasten off.

Ch 1, turn, *sc in next st, tr in next st.
Repeat from * across. Sc in last
st. (11 st)
Fasten off.
Weave in ends. When weaving in the ends reinforce the corners
of the slot.
To wear place one end
through the slot and arrange ends attractively.

Suzie first off THANK YOU for sharing such a classy looking Scarf. I'm stuck at row 10 on the first end. I know it's me but I just don't understand it. How and where do you sc through both stitches? Forgive me....

I have a question, The pattern calls for an H, I and a J needle but the pattern only uses an H and a I needle. can anyone explain?

Thank you for sharing your pattern, I am also stuck and hope you wouldn't mind sharing some more. I'm stuck between rows 9 and 10 where you join the new yarn with row 5. I'm just not understanding this part. I have row 5 marked but all my stitches are stitches I don'thave any loops and I made sure to only go tough the front loop here

If you worked into the front loop the back loop will be available to work into. Only suggestion I have is to go back to row 5 and work it again.
Hello, I am confused about what you mean on the first row, what does it mean exactly when you say work in back bump? Is this like BLO (back loop only??)??

The back bump isn't either loop. Look at the chain and you will see the loops and a little bump on the backside, that bump is what you want to work into.

Just love this scarf. Started my first one this morning in the waiting room at the salon. Have a question for you. Why are we making the slots on both ends of the scarf? Is there any reason other than symmetry? I'm thinking that only one slot is required, am I not seeing something? Thank you.
If there is a slot at each end it works better for both righties and lefties.

I am drawing a blank on the instructionset for the first end. It says to check 1 and turn corner to work across one narrow edge. Then to wor 10 SC evenly across end. I don't know what to do here. Can you help?

I am so sorry for the way that message posted! I think I just noticed something I missed earlier. We are to do several rows of row 2 (2-8). I couldn't figure out how to do the first instructions for the First End, (i.e. Ch 1 and turn corner to work across one narrow edge). I only did row 2, not the rest so I couldn't figure out where the "narrow edge" was! I'll try reading and following the instructions and hopefully I'll catch on. Thanks for responding so quickly.

This is so pretty! I’m going to try but I’m so confused in some areas. I think if I saw it layed out it would make sense. What stitch is on the ends of scarf? So pretty! You do beautiful work.
