Can you tell me why there is two slits?? I'm trying to picture it in my head and I can't figure out why there is the top slit. I have seen others like this and theirs only have the one slit.
When you look at the car seat it has a piece that comes up between the legs and the shoulder straps come down to meet the lower portion. Google infant car seat and you will see why it is made this way.
Why others designed theirs with only one slit, that I can't answer.

I have a question about row (six)6 in the blanket pattern. It would seem to me that this row should be a sc across rather than hdc. Then it would be the same sequence as in the last several rows of the cap.
I am working on a blanket now and will make this change to see how it looks.

Because the cap doesn't have as many rounds as the blanket has rows is why the instructions are different.
Please clarify directions. Row 4 involves alternating sc with tr. Then directions say to hdc in each sc across -- wouldn't that be hdc in each sc and tr? Then row 6 is to hdc in each sc across but the sc were in row 4. Then row 7 says to hdc in each sc across but again the last sc were in row 4. Please help. Thanks.
Thank you so much for your quick response! I love this pattern, it is so easy and so much fun to crochet.
I don't know much about DK. To make it larger you would need to add stitches in increments of 6. You could try 70 or 76 to see how wide that would make it.
