ITS JUST A BEANIE

Thank you, Jo and Virginia for testing this pattern.

I've been crocheting the It's Just a Triangle Shawl to send to the elders at Pine Ridge Reservation. When I finished the most recent one I thought why not crochet a matching cap, after all it's really cold there. That was the inspiration for this cap.

SIZE: Woman’s average (20-22 inches)

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn, approximately 2.5 ounces
US size J (6.0 mm) crochet hook

GAUGE: 5 dc = 2 inches

NOTES:
1. Read instructions all the way through before beginning.
2. Beanie in photo made with Caron One Pound Claret and Red Heart Super Saver Marrakesh
3. Beanie in photo the contrast rounds were worked on rounds 9, 11 and 13.
4. To make cap longer or shorter work more or less rounds 8-14.

5. To make a child's version only increase to 42 stitches. You could also try using your I (5.5 mm) hook.

Chain 4 and join to form a loop.

Comments:
Hi I'm new to following crochet patterns and I wonder what it means when you say to make a child's beanie to just increase to 42 stiches? Does it mean you stop at row 6 or do you just keep repeating row 6 until you get the depth needed?

Once you complete row 6, work on that many stitches until it is the depth you want.

Thank you for this pattern. It takes no time at all to make and it is so comfortable to wear. Love the pattern.

Easiest beanie pattern ever! The only problem I had was the 3 rows of single crochet at the end made it kinda hard to squeeze on my head at first. Once it was stretched a little I had no problem though. Thanks! :)

Next time do those three rounds with a larger hook.

I love this pattern. I am making hats for a homeless shelter and your patterns are so easy and fast, I can get a lot done. Thank you for the great patterns.

Feel good about all the people you are helping. Bless you for your good works.
