About 2.5 ounces worsted weight yarn
Size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
Tapestry needle
½ inch elastic 16 inches for smaller size, 18 inches for larger size

Here's a good video to show how to do the Dc Foundation Stitch.

Fphdc = Front post hdc, YO, insert hook from front to back and to front again around the vertical post (upright part) of st, YO and draw yarn through, YO and complete hdc.
Bphdc = Back post hdc, YO, reaching over top of piece and working on opposite side (right side) of work, insert hook from right to left around vertical post of next st, YO and draw yarn through, YO and complete hdc.
NOTES:
1. Read instructions all the way through before beginning.
2. Diaper cover in photo crocheted with Lion Brand Pound of Love Lavender.
3. When joining with a slipstitch pull the slipstitch tight.
4. To make the waistband adjustable, cut the elastic 2 inches shorter and sew about 8 inches of twill tape or ribbon to each end. Then crochet over the elastic, but leave the tape or ribbon ends loose at about the 28th stitch. Then you can tie the ends in a bow.

This is a beautiful pattern! I plan to make this diaper cover using baby sport. What size hook would you sugeest
Do you think you could post a guage to work off of? I'm making a diaper cover for a 4 month and using the 0-3 pattern with the hook size and yarn suggested its big enough to fit my 3 year old son... its a great pattern, but without a guage I'm flying blind...
I added the gauge. It is 7 sc to 2 inches. You must crochet loosely, you need to go down a size or two with your hook.
Hope that helps.
Hope that helps.
Any pointers for making this in an 18 month? I'm making a tutu for my chunky girls birthday party & need a diaper cover for underneath...
Cut the elastic an inch smaller than her waist, overlap and stitch. I bet the larger size would be big enough, just try it on her and adjust the length accordingly, before beginning the crotch.
It was simply great to make. I used red since it was for my great nephew's first Xmas and I already made him a crochet Santa hat. Thank you for sharing.
I dropped a hook size to H and I'm using the 3-6 month pattern. Also checked gauge. I read in the comments here and another forum this pattern was posted that it runs VERY large. The posts are correct. I'm starting the crotch and this is going to be more like a 18 mo or larger size! I crochet very tightly so those that crochet loosely are going to have a HUGE diaper cover. Thank goodness I'm making if for my 12 mo grand daughter and can reduce the elastic and adjust the legs and crotch...just going to be rather poofy LOL
I must agree that it does run very large. Luckily I'm making it for my 20 month old, looks like I won't need to adjust anything! :) Thank you for the pattern!
Runs very large, but I knew that going in because I found it in a post that says that. I'm following the 0-3m size to a T and it is more like 12-18m size.if I remake this for a smaller baby, I will use fine yarn and a much smaller hook. Thank you for the pattern!! They are just what I was looking for! I'm addinga riffle across the butt to match the summer dress and hat that I made my daughter! So cute!!!
