KID'S BEANIE

Thank you Jo NY for testing this pattern.



This beanie is a match to the Men and Women's Beanie. Perfect to match up the entire family.



SIZE: Child’s 18-20 inches, depth about 7.25 inches


MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn, approximately 2 ounces

US size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook (if you crochet loosely use an H hook)
Tapestry needle


NOTES:
1. Read instructions all the way through before beginning.
2. Should fit children 3 to 12 years old.
3. When joining with a slip stitch, pull the slip stitch tight.
4. Do not count the ch 2 at beginning of rounds as a dc.

ROUND 1: Ch 3, 12 dc in first ch. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (12 sts)


ROUND 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in ea st. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (24 sts)


ROUND 3: Ch 2, dc in same st as join, 2 dc in next st, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (36 sts)

ROUND 4: Ch 2, dc in same st as join, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, *dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (48 sts)




ROUNDS 5-6: Ch 1, sc in ea st. Join with a slipstitch in first sc. (48 sc)


ROUND 7: Ch 2, dc in same st as join, dc in next 6 st, 2 dc in next st, *dc in 7 st, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (54 sts)


ROUNDS 8-9: Ch 1, sc in ea st. Join with a slipstitch in first sc. (54 sts)


ROUND 10: Ch 2, dc in each st. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (54 sts)


ROUNDS 11-12: Ch 1, sc in ea st. Join with a slipstitch in first sc. (54 sts)


ROUND 13: Ch 2, dc ea st. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (54 sts)


ROUNDS 14-16: Ch 1, sc in ea st. Join with a slipstitch in first sc. (54 sts)

BOY’S ROUND 17: Ch 1, sc in ea st. Join with a slipstitch in first sc. (54 sts)

GIRL’S ROUND 17: Reverse sc in each sc. (54 sts)

Fasten off. Weave in ends.

I made "kid's Beanie and it is perfect for the younger grandkids.
I am a new crocheter and on line 17 it calls for a reverse sc. Can you explain what that is. thanks

I just found this pattern this morning and finished it up and it turned out great ... it is a very easy pattern to follow i did add a few more rolls and a scalloped edge and a few simple flowers to dress it up a bit for my great niece as a Christmas gift.. this is a pattern i will be making more of for yrs to come Thanks you so much for the pattern and Happy crocheting to you

Hi, can I just do a magic circle and then add 12 double crochet s? I'm not sure how to complete the first step. Thank you.

I don't use the "magic circle" as in my opinion it isn't secure. You can do whatever you want, there are no crochet police.
