MY AUGUST SCARF - TREBLE CROSS-STITCH
Materials:
About 275 yards Soft worsted weight yarn
Sample crocheted with 2 balls Simply Soft Shadows (3 ounces, 150 yards)
I (5.5mm) Hook
Gauge: 12 dc = 4 inches
Size: Approximately 6 X 60 inches excluding fringe
Special stitches:
Dc Foundation stitch: Ch 3, yarn over, insert hook in first ch and *pull up a loop. Yarn over, and pull through one loop (chain). Yarn over and pull through two loops twice (dc). You now have two foundation stitches. Yarn over and insert hook in ch of stitch just made. Repeat from * until you have desired number of stitches.
Treble Cross-Stitch: Tr cross st = Skip one stitch, tr in next stitch, from behind, tr in skipped stitch.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Row 1: Work 18 (or any multiple of 2) double crochet foundation stitches. Ch 2 turn.
Note: Turning chains don’t count as dc or tr throughout.
Row 2: Dc in each stitch. Ch 3 turn. (18 dc)
Row 3: Work tr cross stitches across. Ch 2 turn. (9 tr cross st)
Row 4-69: Repeat rows 2 and 3. Ending with a tr cross st row.
Row 70-71: Repeat row 2. Do not fasten off.
FRINGE:
Ch 20, slipstitch in first dc. *Slipstitch in next dc, ch 20, slipstitch in same dc, repeat from * across.
Fasten off.
Repeat fringe on opposite end.
Weave in ends
