MY JUNE SCARF - SLANT STITCH


Size: 7.5 X 60 inches
Gauge: unimportant

Materials:
Soft worsted weight yarn 6 ounces (scarf in photo made of Simply Soft)
J (6.0 mm) and I (5.5 mm) crochet hooks
Yarn needle





Stitches used:
Ch = chain
Sc = single crochet
Dc= Double crochet
Yo = yarn over

With J hook, ch 26.
Row 1: Switch to I hook for remainder of scarf. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Ch 2 turn (doesn’t count as dc). (25 sc)

Row 2: Without skipping the first sc, dc in 2 sc. *Skip next sc, dc in next 3 sc, yo, insert hook in skipped sc and draw up a loop even with the hook, yo and draw through two loops on hook twice. Slant st made. Repeat from * across to last 3 sc, dc in last 3 sc. Ch 1, turn. (5 slant sts)

Row 3: Sc in each st across, don’t go into the turning chain. Ch 2, turn. (25 sc)

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until scarf is the desired length.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

I am a self-taught crocheter and knitter. I am amazed by the creativity you exhibit in all your patterns. I wish you had videos of your stitches. That will surely help people like me.

Beautiful; I am currently doing this one but am not sure if I have enough yarn. Not sure how 50 grams works out; it looks beautiful though.

50 grams won't be nearly enough for a long scarf. 100 grams is about 3.5 ounces.

I love this scarf and am currently trying it out (though I'm new and rather inept at crocheting, and can't seem to get the slant!)

I read the instructions again and can't think of what else to tell you. I can't seem to find instructions online. Guess all I can say is keep trying.

I just made this scarf in a variegated simply soft paints color and it came out beautiful. I love this patten and I know that my brother-in-law is going to love the scarf.

I started this last night for a holiday scarf exchange. I cannot believe how fast and easy it's working up. My only problem was starting it at night in dark burgundy yarn with not near enough light, but that's just old eyes.

I love this scarf pattern and have begun it but have run into a "snag". In your directions you for row 2 you state "without skipping first sc, dc in 2 sc...". If I dc in 1st sc, I will undo the stitch. Do you mean "without skipping 1st sc, dc in second sc.."? I know it's silly, but I am confused and a bit frustrated! Sorry!

Possibly you forgot to chain 2 at the end of row 1. If you chained 2, you shouldn't have a problem.

Thank you for this wonderful pattern. I just wanted you to know I used a slightly modified verison to make a red and blue "blocked" scarf for the Special Olympics. It is one of my favorite patterns to use.

I love this design but I'm having the hardest time making the slant. Could someone dumb it down even more for me?I understand the yo, hook to the skipped sc . . . but then I am lost on how to do the loop. Thanks for any feedback!

After searching for the "perfect" pattern to use to make my kidney specialist a scarf, I found it! I made my Dr G this scarf this last Christmas, 2012. It turned out so very handsome .... my nurse said he was tearing up when he pulled it out of the box! Dr G had been mentioning-teasing me for 3-4 years how i hadn't made him anything yet. Well he manages my "lifeline" to dialysis and this gift had to turn out beautiful! It was gorgeous in variegated shades, and oh so soft. I am so happy and proud. I will post a picture when I figure out where it goes. Thank you for this special design for this special man!

You can do whatever you want, no Crochet Police. I think you would chain additional stitches in increments of 5.

Struggling with how to do the slant as a lefthander. Tried it a couple of different ways but couldn't get it to look right. Any ideas?

Should just do it as written, but your slants will go the opposite direction.

I found a solution that works. Do an extra row of sc at the beginning. That way, the slant is going the correct way. Thanks!
