Credit/Business Card Case Pattern



















With three closure options Velcro, snap or button.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn, approximately 25 yards
Snap, Velcro or 5/8” button for closure
Matching sewing thread

G/4.25 mm hook

GAUGE: 8 sc = 2”, 7 sc rows = 2”

Ch 15. See note 1.

ROUND 1: Make 2 sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc in each chain (12) to last chain, working over yarn tail for remainder of this round, 3 sc in last ch, work in opposite side of starting chain and sc in each of 13 chain stitches; [30 sc]ROUND 2: Slip stitch in BACK loop of first sc of round 1 (counts as first sc), sc in BACK loop of each sc around. [30 sc] DO NOT join rounds. See note 2.

ROUNDS 3-8: Sc in BACK loop of next sc and in BACK loop of each sc around. [30 sc]

ROUND 9: Sc in BACK loop of next sc and in BACK loop of each sc around to the last 2 sts before the side edge fold. Slip stitch in last 2 sc ending at fold. Ch 1, turn.

SNAP OR VELCRO FLAP: Worked over 13 sts

Row 1: Sc in 2 slip stitches, sc in 11 sc. Ch 1, turn. (13 sc)
Row 2: Sc in 13 sc. Ch 1 turn. (13 SC)
Row 3: Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 9 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (11 SC)
Row 4: Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 7 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (9 SC)
Row 5: Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 5 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (7 sc)Row 6: Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 3 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (5 sc)
Row 7: Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 1 st, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (3 sc)
Row 8: Dec 2 sc over next 3 sc as follows: Draw up a loop in each of next 3 sts, yo, draw through all 4 loops on hook. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Sew snap or Velcro on flap and case for closure.

BUTTON FLAP: Worked over 13 sts

Row 1: Sc in 2 slip stitches, 11 sc. Ch 1, turn. (13 sc)
Row 2: Sc in 13 sc. Ch 1, turn. (13 sc)
Row 3: Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 9 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (11 sc)
Row 4: Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 7 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (9 sc)
Row 5: Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 2 sts, ch 1 (counts as a sc), skip 1 sc, sc in 2 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (7 sc)Row 6: Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 1 st, sc over ch 1, sc in 1 st, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (5 sc)
Row 7: Sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in 1 st, sc dec in last 2 sts. Ch 1, turn. (3 sc)
Row 8: Dec 2 sc over next 3 sc as follows: Draw up a loop in each of next 3 sts, yo, draw through all 4 loops on hook. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Note 1: When using one of the multicolor worsted weights you may want to ch 17 and work 10 rows before starting flap. Seems most the multicolor yarns are thinner than the solids. Then work the flap over 15 stitches.

Note 2: It seems easiest to work the case inside out when working in the back loop, turning right side out for round 9 and flap.
