RUFFLE BRIM CAP

Sizes:  (14-16)  (15-18)  inches

MATERIALS:
Simply Soft worsted weight (4) yarn approximately 1.25 (1.5) ounces
US size 8 (5.0 mm) 29 inch circular knitting needle
US size 8 (5.0 mm) 16 inch circular knitting needle
US size 8 (5.0 mm) double point needles
Tapestry needle
Marker

GAUGE:
9 sts = 2 inches

NOTES:
1.  Read instructions all the way through before beginning cap.
2.  Cast on and first row is worked on a longer circular because it’s easier to see if the stitches are twisted. I used a 29 inch, but you can use a 24 or even the 16 inch, but it will be much harder to tell if you have a twist.  Work a few stitches of row 1 and check one more time to be sure your stitches aren’t twisted.  Ask me why…
3.  When switching to the shorter needles don’t transfer them, just knit them off the longer needle with the shorter one.
4.  Added 5/4/12:  Some people are having trouble with the brim rolling up too much.  There are a couple things you can try to cure this.  a. cast on with a larger needle.  b. Work a round of purls between rounds 1 and 2.

Place marker, join and work in the round.

Comments:
I would love to see this as a crochet project. Is that possible?

Sorry, not at this time.

I am trying to make a matching blanket (stroller size). Any suggestions?

I think if it was me I would knit the body and then pickup stitches for the ruffle.

Loooove this pattern. Thanks for sharing!!!
