CAT MAT BASED ON ORIGAMI POT PAD
MATERIALS:
Worsted
weight
Size
M (9 mm) hook
SIZE: 15 inches square
Notes:
1 I tied the partial skeins together using this tutorial:
DIRECTIONS:
With two
strands of yarn held together throughout, Chain
enough to make a loose chain the length of the DIAGONAL. (47 chains made about 15 inches)
Sc in the
second chain from the hook. Sc in each chain to the end of the chain. Sc back
to the beginning in the free loops of the beginning chain.
Sc in the
top of the first sc and every following sc around until the work measures half
as high as it is wide. When a neat diagonal is attained, finish off the work
leaving a tail about twice as long as the area to be seamed.
Whip
stitch up along the diagonal to yield a flat, square thick pad.

COOL STRIPES COWL
SIZES: Woman’s
average and large
NOTES:
1.
Read instructions through before beginning.
2.
For the M1, make one I did it two ways, a yarn over and this one: http://www.lionbrand.com/how-to-knit-increasing-between You choose which one you prefer. The yarn over makes a bit larger hole. I like the hole as a decorative element.
3.
The first picture is Red Heart Super Saver color Cool Stripe. Second picture is RHSS Monet.

For the bind off I tried both binding off in seed stitch and in

KNIT CAT MAT
KNIT CAT MAT
I wanted the mats to be nice and
cushy, so used two strands yarn. Have
taken several to our Humane Society and they were happy to receive them.

Two colors of worsted
weight yarn about 100 grams (3.5 ounces) of each color, 200 grams total.

circular needle at least 24 inches long

Notes:
Mat is worked
with two strands throughout. Tied together using this technique: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nq_7EXTWHE&feature=youtu.be
I wouldn’t use this technique for anything
else, but I figure with two strands and for animals it will be okay.
Instructions:

CROCHET CAT MAT
CROCHET CAT MAT
I
wanted the mats to be nice and cushy, so used two strands of yarn held together . I have taken several to our Humane Society and
they were happy to receive them. I tied the small balls together using the double knot. I wouldn't use this technique for other things, but for this project it seems okay.
Notes:
1 I tied the partial skeins together using this tutorial:
With only a ch 1 turning, you’ll need to pay close attention where the last stitch goes. Until you get used to it you might like to mark the first stitch. Using the ch 1 makes a more even edge than if you did a ch 2.
Materials:
Worsted
weight (4) yarn, about 120 grams worked with two strands held together.
US
size L (8.0mm) crochet hook
Size: Approximately
15 inches square
Gauge: Unimportant
Chain 32
Row 1: 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in
each remaining ch across. (30 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1 and turn, sc in each st across. (30 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1 and turn, dc in each st across. (30 sts)
Repeat rows 2 and 3, until mat
is desired size. It took 23 rows for
mine.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

NOTES:

2.
I use an awl to poke the holes for my crochet hook.
3.
Work the first row with the F hook if it is too hard
getting the H through the hole made with an awl.
4.
I think it is best to use cotton yarn for the topper. That said I have made plenty of them using Red
Heart Super Saver.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Prep towel: If using a whole towel fold in half and pin
across. If using half a towel fold cut
edge over about ¼ inch.
Row 1 (RS): Single crochet across top. Chain 2, turn. (Use F hook for this row)
