PICOT CAP (K)


This baby cap matches the Picot Sleep Sack.
PICOT CAP

SIZE:
Baby 15 to 16 inches

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn
US size 10.5 16 inch circular knitting needle
US size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
tapestry needle
marker

SPECIAL STITCHES:
Small Picot Cast On:
Make a slip-knot and place it on your left needle. Knit a st into the slipknot, leaving the slipknot on the needle. Place the new st onto left needle by inserting the left needle into the front of the new st. Continue in this way to CO 5 sts, then bind off 1 st, leaving 4 sts. Continue to CO 5 sts and bind off 1 until 60 sts are on needle.

Small Picot Bind Off: Knit a st into the next st. Place the new st onto left needle by inserting the left needle into the front of the new st. Bind off 5 sts.

Continue to CO 1 st and bind off 5 sts until all 60 sts are bound off.


INSTRUCTIONS:
With 16" needle, small picot cast on 60 sts. Join and work in the round.

Place marker here to denote beginning of round.

Round 1: Knit (60 sts)

Round 2-5: K1, P1. Repeat around. (60 sts)

Knit until cap measures 6 inches from cast on edge.

Round 6: *K 8, k2tog. Repeat from * around. (54 sts)

Round 7: K

Round 8: *K 7, k2tog. Repeat from * around. (48 sts)

Round 9: K

Round 10: K 4, *yo, k2tog. Repeat from * around. (8 yo)

Round 11-12: K1, P1. Repeat around.

Round 14: K

Small picot bind off

DRAWSTRING:
Leaving a 5 inch tail, using an I hook chain 60. Fasten off leaving a 5 inch tail.

Cut a 10 inch length of yarn, fold in half, pull loop through the end of the drawstring. Pull all the ends through the loop and pull tight forming a tassel.

Weave drawstring in and out of the eyelets created in round 10. Pull to close and tie bow.

PICOT SLEEP SACK (K)

PICOT SLEEP SACK

27 inch circumference, 20 inch length

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn about 7 ounces
US size 10.5 16 inch circular knitting needle
US I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
Tapestry needle

GAUGE:
15 sts = 4 inches
11 rows = 2 inches

NOTES:
1. Sleep sack in photo was knit using Red Heart Super Saver in Orchid.
2. The portion of the sleep sack after round 5 and before round 6 is a blank canvas. Use whatever stitch pattern you like. The one in the photo is done in stockinet.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cast on 100 sts using picot cast on

Round 1: Knit

Round 2-5: K1, P1. Repeat around.

Knit until sleep sack measures 18 inches.

Place marker and finish as follows:

Round 6: *k 8, k2tog. Repeat from * around. (90 sts)

Round 7: k

Round 8: *k 7, k2tog. Repeat from * around. (80 sts)

Round 9: k

Round 10: K 8, *yo, k2tog. Repeat from * around. (8 yo)

Round 11-14: K1, P1. Repeat around.

Round 15: k

Picot bind off

Cut yarn and weave in ends.

DRAWSTRING:
Leaving a 5 inch tail, using an I hook chain 100. Slipstitch in the back bump of the 2nd chain from hook and each remaining chain.


Fasten off leaving a 5 inch tail.

Cut a 10 inch length of yarn, fold in half, pull loop through the end of the drawstring with the tails. Pull all the ends through the loop and pull tight forming a tassel.

Cut two 10 inch lengths of yarn, fold in half, pull loops through the opposite end of the drawstring and pull tight.

Weave drawstring in and out of the eyelets created in round 10. Pull to close and tie bow.

SUZIE'S SNOOD

Snood maybe worn low as in the photo or high across like a headband. The length of the elastic or ribbon should be adjusted accordingly.

MATERIALS:
Size 10 cotton thread less than 350 yards
Size 6 or 7 steel crochet hook
Needle with eye large enough to accept the crochet cotton
One of the following: 54 inches of ¼ inch ribbon or about 24 inches of ¼ inch elastic

NOTES:
1. Read pattern all the way through before beginning snood.
2. DO NOT use South Maid thread, it is too stiff for this project.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Ch 9, slipstitch in first ch to form ring

Round 1: Ch 6 (counts as 1 tr and ch 2), tr in ring. *ch 2, tr. Repeat from * 9 times. Ch 2, join with a slipstitch in 4th ch of ch 6. (12 tr)

Round 2: Slipstitch into first ch 2 sp. Ch 6, tr in same sp. *Ch 2, tr in next sp, ch 2, tr, ch 2, tr in next sp. Repeat from * around. Ch 2, join with a slipstitch in 4th ch of ch 6. (18 tr)

Round 3: Slipstitch into first ch 2 sp. Ch 7, tr in same sp.. *Ch 3, tr in next sp, 5 times, tr, ch 3, tr in next sp. Repeat from * around. End with ch 3, tr in last 5 sp. Ch 1, hdc in 4th ch of ch 7. (21 tr)

GAUGE: First 3 rounds = 4 inches (before 4th round)

1. Read instructions all the way through before beginning.
2. Pull the joining slipstitches tight.

BLUEBERRIES CAP


It is blueberry season in NW Washington. So how better to celebrate the season than with a Blueberries Cap?

BLUEBERRIES CAP

SIZE: Baby 16 (Youth 18, Woman 20)

GAUGE: 6 sc = 2 inches

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn approximately 2.5, (3, 3.5 ounces)
J (6.00 mm) Crochet hook

NOTES:
1. Read all instruction through before beginning cap.
2. Cap in photo was made with Caron One Pound Midnight
3. Work is all done from the wrong side until the cuff.
4. Only turn when instructions tell you to.
5. Pull slipstitches tight, you want them to almost disappear.


SPECIAL STITCHES:
FPHDC = front post half double crochet
BPHDC = back post half double crochet

CUFF:


ROUND 1: Ch 2, turn, hdc in each st around. Join with a slipstitch, as if to front post, around the beginning ch 2. [42 (48, 54 hdc)

If some how you don’t end up with 48 hdc (including the beginning ch 2) this is where you can fudge it. Instead of making a slipstitch around the beginning chain 2, slipstitch around the first true hdc.

ROUND 2:
Ch 2, *BPHDC around next hdc, FPHDC around next hdc. Repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch, as if to front post, around the beginning ch 2. DO NOT turn.

ROUNDS 3-4: Ch 2, *BPHDC around the BPHDC, FPHDC around the FPHDC. Repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch, as if to front post, around the beginning ch 2.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
