GOT SCRAPS CAP

This Kid's size one is done with scraps with the ends woven in.

Thanks to Virginia for testing this pattern.



GOT SCRAPS CAP
This cap matches the Got Scraps Scarf.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn, approximately 3 ounces adult and 2.5 ounces kid’s
Size N hook (9.00mm) crochet hook
Yarn needle

NOTE:
1. Read instructions through before beginning.
2. If making the scarf and cap with a 5 ounce multicolor yarn, crochet the cap first and then crochet the scarf until you run out of yarn.
3. Hat is worked holding 2 strands of yarn at the same time throughout.
4. Beginning chain 2 doesn’t count as a stitch.
5. Pull joining slipstitch tight so that it nearly disappears.

SPECIAL STITCHES:
V st: Dc, ch 1, dc same stitch
Shell: 3 dc in same stitch

SIZE: Woman’s average 21 inch (Kid's instructions below)


INSTRUCTIONS:
Ch 4, join with a slipstitch to form a ring

Round 1: Ch 2 (remember does not count as a dc), work 10 dc in the ring. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (10 dc)

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join, *2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (20 dc)

Round 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. End with dc in last st. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (30 dc)

Round 4: Ch 2, dc in same st as join, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts, repeat from * around. End with dc in last st. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (40 dc)

Round 5: Ch 4, dc in same stitch as join. *Skip 2 sts, shell in next st, skip 2 sts, V st in next st, skip 2 sts, shell in next st. Skip 1 st, V st in next st, skip 2 sts, shell in next st, skip 2 sts, V st in next st, Repeat from * once. Skip 2 sts, shell in next st. Join with a slipstitch in third ch of ch 4. (42 sts)


Round 6: Slipstitch into center of first V st. Ch 3, 2 dc in same st. Skip 2 st, V st in center dc of first shell. *Shell in ch 1 sp of next V st, skip 2 sts, V st in center dc of next shell. Repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in top of ch 3. (42 sts)


Round 7: Slipstitch into center of first shell. Ch 4, dc in same stitch as join. *Skip 2 sts, shell in ch 1 sp of next V st, V st in center dc of next shell. Repeat from * around. Skip 2 sts, shell in ch 1 sp of next V st. Join with a slipstitch in 3rd ch of ch 4. (42 sts)

Rounds 8-9: Repeat rounds 6 and 7 once. (42 sts)



Rounds 10-11: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with a slipstitch in the top of first sc. (42 sts)

Fasten off and weave in ends.


SMALL SIZE: Kid’s 18 inch

Ch 4, join with a slipstitch to form a ring

Round 1: Ch 2, work 10 dc in the ring. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (10 sts)

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join, *2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (20 sts)

Round 3: Ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * around. End with dc in last st. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (30 dc)

Round 4: Ch 2, dc in next 5 sts, *2 dc in next st, dc in next 5 sts, repeat from * around ending with 2 dc in last st. Join with a slipstitch in the top of first dc. (35 sts)

Round 5: Ch 4, dc in same stitch as join. *Skip 2 sts, shell in next st, skip 2 sts, V st in next st. Repeat from * around. End with skip 1 st, shell in next st. Join with a slipstitch in third ch of ch 4. (36 sts)


Round 6: Slipstitch into center of first V st. Ch 3, 2 dc in same st. Skip 2 st, V st in center dc of first shell. *Shell in ch 1 sp of next V st, skip 2 sts, V st in center dc of next shell. Repeat from * around. Join with a slipstitch in top of ch 3. (36 sts)


Round 7: Slipstitch into center of first shell. Ch 4, dc in same stitch as join. *Skip 2 sts, shell in ch 1 sp of next V st, V st in center dc of next shell. Repeat from * around. Skip 2 sts, shell in ch 1 sp of next V st. Join with a slipstitch in 3rd ch of ch 4. (36 sts)

Rounds 8-9: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with a slipstitch in the top of first sc. (36 sts)

Fasten off and weave in ends.
