HOBNAIL FROSTING CONTAINER COZY - A RECYCLING PROJECT (C)

I was going to add a handle and use this for a tiny Easter basket, but like it just the way it is. I'm going to use it to put a few flowers in and give to a friend who recently lost a loved one.

MATERIALS:Worsted weight yarn approximately 1 oz total
Empty container from prepared frosting
H (5.0mm) crochet hook
Yarn needle for weaving ends

GAUGE:
4 dc = 1 inch

SIZE:
3.75 inches tall, 3.5 inches in diameter

NOTES:
1.
Read all instructions through before beginning.
2. Beginning chains DO NOT count as a stitch throughout.
3. Always pull your slipstitches tight. When changing colors; as you pick up the dropped color (color you are changing to) pull it tight.

Round 1:
With color 1, ch 3, (do not count as first dc) 12 dc in the 3rd ch from hook. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (12 sts)

Round 2:
Ch 2 (do not count as first dc from now on), 2 dc in each st. Join with a slipstitch in first dc. (24 sts)

Round 3:
Ch 1, *sc in 2 sts, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Change to color 2 (if using more than one color) and join by inserting hook in the back loop of the first sc and pulling a loop of color 2 through with a slipstitch. Drop color 1. (32 sts)

Compare the piece just crocheted to the bottom of the frosting container. It should be about the same size or slightly smaller.

Round 4:
Work this round in the back loop only. With color 2, ch 1, sc in each st around. Change to color 1 and join by inserting hook in first sc and pulling a loop of color 1 through with a slipstitch. Drop color 2. (32 sts)

Round 5: (Bumpy round) With color 1, ch 1, sc in first st, *tr next st, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. Change to color 2 and join by inserting hook in first sc and pulling a loop of color 2 through with a slipstitch. Drop color 1. (32 sts)

Rounds 6-16: Repeat rounds 4 and 5 until there are 6 bumpy rounds. End with round 4. (32 sts)

Fasten off, weave in ends.

Is this Really TWO colors of yarn... gee it looks like one. Don't know if I will do the container, but I love the pattern st My Grammy had lots of hobnail glass items and I always loved the look. Will definitely use the patt st and thanks for the posting

This is a really cute cozy! I use these containers as a little trash container while I crochet, this will really dress it up! Great job! :)
