National Wear Red Day, February 6, 2009, is a day when Americans nationwide will wear red to show their support for women's heart disease awareness. This observance promotes the Red Dress symbol and provides an opportunity for everyone to unite in this life-saving awareness movement by showing off a favorite red dress, shirt, or tie, or Red Dress Pin.
MATERIALS:
Small amount of size 10 thread
Size 5 crochet hook
Tapestry needle to weave in ends
Small pin back
Heart shaped rhinestone or sequin
Craft glue

GAUGE: Unimportant
SIZE: Approximately 3 inches
NOTES:
1. Read instructions through before beginning.
2. If your stitch count isn't exactly pattern, don't worry about it.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Ch 18, join with slipstitch in first ch to form ring.
Round 1: Ch 1, 36 sc in ring. Join with slipstitch in top of first sc. (36 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1, hdc in each st. Join with slipstitch in top of first hdc. (36 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1, hdc in each st. Join with slipstitch in top of first hdc. (36 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1, 2 hdc in same st as join, *hdc, 2 hdc. Repeat from * twice. Skip 11 sts, 2 hdc, *hdc, 2 hdc. Repeat from * twice. Skip 11 sts, join with slipstitch in top of first hdc. (22 sts).
Round 4-5: Ch 1, sc in each st. (22 sts)
Round 6: Ch 1, *Sc dec over 2 sts, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. End with sc in last st. Join with a slipstitch in first sc dec. (15 sts)
Round 7: Sc in each st. Join with a slipstitch in top first sc. (15 sts)
Round 8: Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as join. *Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around. End with sc in last st. (22 sts)
Round 9-10: Ch 2, dc in each st. Join with slipstitch in top of first dc. (22 sts)
Round 11: Ch 2, 2 dc in same st as join. *dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around. (30 sts)
Round 12: Ch 2, dc in each st. Join with slipstitch in top of first dc. (30 sts)

Round 14: Ch 2, dc in each st. Join with slipstitch in top of first dc. (40 sts)

Fasten off and weave in ends.
Choose the side you think looks best for the front and glue heart to left bodice.
Round 6: Ch 1, *Sc dec over 2 sts, sc in next st. Repeat from * around. End with sc in last st. Join with a slipstitch in first sc dec. (15 sts)
Round 7: Sc in each st. Join with a slipstitch in top first sc. (15 sts)
Round 8: Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as join. *Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st. Repeat from * around. End with sc in last st. (22 sts)

Glue or sew pin back to back of dress.
